The 2023 Kia Niro comes in three variants: the hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and battery-electric, and a front-wheel-drive system is offered as standard for all trims. The hybrid has the same 1.6-liter inline-4 engine and electric motor as last year’s model, producing 139 HP and 195 lb-ft of torque.
Kia claims a total driving range of 588 miles and a combined fuel economy of 53 MPG. Then there’s the PHEV, which features a more powerful electric motor and a battery pack with a capacity of 11.1 kWh.
The PHEV has the same 139 HP and 195 lb-ft of torque as before, but the updated Niro’s 33-mile electric range is still a 25% boost. The Niro EV has the same powertrain as the previous model, with a 201 HP motor and a 64.8 kWh battery pack.
