So there are a 3 main types of fast EV charging:
1. CHAdeMo
2. CCS
3. Tesla Supercharger

These are generally used when people are on a long road trip and they either need a break or their car needs a charge. There are big differences to the main charging standards.

History of Electric Cars Part 1

CHAdeMo is one that was one of the first ones to be introduced and its also being the first ones to become outdated. While this charging standard can have speeds of up to 100kw, most electric cars that have this plug cap out at just 50kw. Turns out I have never actually seen a 100kw CHAdeMo plug so i’m going to assume they are very rare.

So CCS is a standard that came last, even after the Tesla supercharger. This standard is adopted among most of the EVs out today including the model 3 in Europe and China. This standard is going to be the future as it has capabilities like vehicle to grid, just like CHAdeMo, and it can charge cars really really fast at up to 350kw if the cars can take it.

So now we come to the Tesla supercharger and this type of charger is only on tesla vehicles as of now and it will probably stay like this for a long time. The advantage the tesla supercharger has over all the others are that they are very reasonably priced, they are very easy to use and don’t require any sort of app, and they are placed at locations you would want to stop at anyways. The last part is especially true in North America, to find out why, watch the video and you’ll know.

I have started this channel talking about Electric cars. This channel is to focus more on the financials of the industry but we’ll some odd videos here and there.
