Energy storage technology company ONE was selected to supply more than 15,000 Aries lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs over the next five years for use in The Shyft Group’s Blue Arc Class 3, 4 and 5 electric trucks.

Blue Arc trucks using Aries batteries will go through development, testing and validation this year using 79 kWh and 62 kWh variants. The latter will appear first in Class 5 vehicles, and offers added flexibility by combining in-series and parallel configurations.

The company says that the scalable architecture of Aries, which allows configuration based on capacity, voltage and size, is ideal for Class 3, 4 and 5 commercial vehicles and that the Aries LFP chemistry is more energy-dense and provides greater range than the nickel manganese cobalt batteries currently used in the majority of EVs.
