In this video, we check out the 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV. The Bolt is Chevy’s front-motor, a 5-door all-electric subcompact hatchback. This EV has been on the market since 2017 but this is my first opportunity at getting behind the wheel and it didn’t disappoint.
Powering the front wheels is a single, permanent magnetic drive motor powered by an advanced 66-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack made up of 288 individual cells. Your full range on the 2020 Bolt is up to 259-miles on a full charge. This is 10% more than the previous model year and 21-miles farther. Total power from the motor is 200-horsepower and 266 lb.ft. of torque delivered through an electronic precision shift system.
You get 40,000 places to plug-in throughout the country. The DC fast charge offers up to 100 miles of range for about 30 minutes of charge. A 214-volt charger offers about 25 miles per hour charged and a 120v charger gets you just 40miles for every hour of charge. You also get a limited warranty on your batter for 8-years or 100,000 miles.
