US-based Dober, an EV coolant manufacturer, has announced that its EV-LC Coolant has passed GB standard testing in China.
The Guo Biao (GB) National Standards are issued by the Standardization Administration of China. The standard published in draft form in 2024 for EV coolants, GB29743.2, outlines “product classifications, technical requirements and test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage for electric vehicle coolant,” according to the Institute for Global Automotive Regulatory Research. Attaining the standard is a necessary step towards selling into the Chinese market.
The Chinese government advanced the new EV coolant standard in response to safety concerns stemming from EV battery fires. The new GB standard for EV coolants calls for electrical conductivity levels below 100 microsiemens (µS) per centimeter.
Testing on the coolant was conducted in late 2024 through early 2025 by RIOH Automobile Testing Technology. It was assessed on a range of critical characteristics, including electrical conductivity, corrosion and stability.
“This approval marks another step forward for Dober’s next-generation coolant portfolio. We are excited to be one of the first companies to achieve this rigorous approval in China,” said Chris Dobrez, Dober’s CEO.
