Pickering Electronics, a manufacturer of reed relays, has introduced new high-voltage surface-mount reed relays for semiconductor testers, medical equipment testing, EV charge point testing and monitoring solar cell PV efficiency.
The new Series 219 high-voltage surface-mount device (SMD) reed relay can switch up to 1 kV and is the only surface-mount high-voltage relay available on the market in 2 Form A and 1 Form B packages, according to the company.
Pickering offers all contact configurations with three coil voltages: 3 V, 5 V or 12 V, and switch stand-off is up to 3 kV in the 1 Form A package, up to 2 kV in the 1 Form B package and up to 1.5 kV in the 2 Form A package.
The company’s other reed relay technology includes Series 104HT, available in 1 Form A, 2 Form A and 1 Form B configurations, and can function in temperatures up to 125° C (with special order variants up to 150° C). Its 6.35 mm (0.25 in) pitch and SIL package allow it to handle up to 4 kV stand-off voltage. Optional internal diode protection is available for 5 V, 12 V and 24 V coils (higher voltage ratings are available on special order). Mercury wetted devices are also available for bounce-free switching at 1,500 VDC minimum stand-off, 500 VDC switching at up to 50 W.
The company also offers Series 67 and 68 relays with former-less coils, which can be encased in a smaller 58.4 x 12.6 x 14.5 mm package. Series 67 relays have PCB switch and coil connections and 200 W power switch capability. Electrostatic screening protection is also available for the Series 104, 67 and 68 relays.
