Engine maker Briggs and Stratton is familiar to anyone who’s ever mowed a lawn. The company’s Vanguard brand, which provides commercial battery and  motor products and solutions, showed its brand-new MVG Series of motors and MC Series of motor controllers at the recent Equip Exposition, along with a range of equipment applications powered by Vanguard batteries.

With the introduction of its motors and motor controllers, Vanguard now offers OEMs a complete system package. The MVG Series and MC Series include different power options for different equipment sizes. The motors and controllers are designed to be rugged, easily integrated, and easily serviced, making them suitable for compact equipment such as blowers, walk-behind trowels, pumps, sprayers, power rakes and more.

At the Equip Exposition, the company also showed an array of concept OEM equipment applications powered by Vanguard Commercial Battery Packs. The swappable Si1.5 Commercial Battery (48 V, 1.5 kWh) was shown in action powering a small walk-behind trowel, a blower, and an electrified aerator from Billy Goat.

Other Vanguard-powered OEM applications on display at the show included a BlueBird Turf Aerator, a Classen Turf Rake and Classen Overseeder, as well as a Ferris eStand On mower and Zero Turn Mower, both powered by Vanguard Fixed Battery (Fi Series) Packs.

Vanguard’s new 24 V 3.5 kWh lithium-ion battery is designed to simplify the integration process for existing OEM applications using lead-acid batteries. It’s suitable for equipment such as boom lifts, floor scrubbers, sweepers, cranes and environmental systems.

With the addition of the new batteries, Vanguard’s range of battery power solutions now includes 1.5 kWh, 3.5 kWh, 3.8 kWh, 5 kWh, 7 kWh and 10 kWh options.

“We are on a mission to make it easier than ever for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to incorporate battery power into their equipment offerings, because more industries are expecting and demanding reliable, clean battery power,” said David Frank, VP of Electrification at Briggs and Stratton. “With the launch of our own motors and motor controllers, we’ll be able to offer OEMs simplified, easy-to-integrate components that deliver a full battery system solution other manufacturers can’t.”
