Zevtron, an EV software and hardware provider based in Carlsbad, California, will offer support for third-party commercial chargers across Canada and the US that currently use the Shell Recharge EV system when Shell discontinues its Shell Sky Software on April 30.

Shell, one of the largest oil and natural gas producers in the US, known for its ubiquitous gas stations, has decided to discontinue its service for third-party commercial chargers to “focus our investments where we have a competitive edge.”

Zevtron said that its white-label platform will ensure integrate into existing OCPP-compatible charging stations, negating the need for equipment replacement. The company expects a quick and efficient migration process. Unlike Shell Recharge, Zevtron’s software does not require the download or use of an app. The software is designed to support various operating models, including public charging, fleet management and residential systems.

“Our solution allows locations to retain their existing chargers while upgrading to a more flexible and customizable platform that supports their specific operational needs,” said Bob Andrews, CEO of Zevtron.

Shell currently owns and operates over 4,000 charging points in the US. Zevtron has advised locations using Shell Recharge to begin planning for the transition if they wish to avoid service disruptions.
