Delhi : Kinetic Luna, a 50-year-old moped, is making a comeback. This time, a completely electric drivetrain will power the two-wheeler. The business that makes the Kinetic Luna, Kinetic Engineering Ltd. (KEL), declared that it has already begun producing the chassis and other parts for the electric version of the vehicle. This zero-emission car will be introduced shortly, according to the manufacturer. Furthermore, Kinetic Green Energy & Power Solutions, says the company, will sell the brand-new Kinetic Luna.
The main chassis, main stand, side stand, and its swing arm are just a few of the primary subassemblies that KEL claims the business is currently constructing for the Luna. The business claims that this car would be produced in Ahmednagar on a special production line. The production line will initially be able to produce 5,000 devices each month, according to the firm.
A Luna powered by an internal combustion engine is said to have sold more than 2,000 units a day at its height, according to the automaker. The electric scooter would perform very well, exactly like its ICE-powered counterpart, according to KEL’s Managing Director Ajinkya Firodia. As E-Luna sales rise, “we estimate this business to add over ₹30 crore yearly over the next two to three years. This will also enable KEL to strengthen its foothold in the EV category,” adds Firodia.
The E-Luna intends to tick all the boxes with its features, according to the KEL, given the expanding electric vehicle industry in India and the preference for load-carrying scooters. As an all-electric last mile transportation option, this electric vehicle will focus on the commuter market in lower-tier markets and the load carrier category after introduction. However, KEL has not provided any information on the price, battery, or rumours of the impending E-Luna.
