Lee from https://www.youtube.com/@TeslaEconomist joins us to discuss the difficulties Japan has had with electrification, and before you get all snippy saying it’s because they don’t want to rely on China, THAT ISN’T THE REASON they chose not to go electric 20 years ago. When the Leaf and Prius hit the market, Panasonic was the only real battery maker selling batteries for EVs. They chose not to secure their supply lines at a time when China wasn’t even making batteries. There’s no hand-waving that away. They chose to stick with internal combustion.
