Back in 2017, Hyundai launched its Kona EV: an all-electric CUV with decent specifications and (reasonably) competitive price.
But since then, the Kona EV has suffered issues with its battery pack – namely a manufacturing fit which could, in extreme circumstances, lead to a battery fire.
Hyundai initially rolled out a software update to reduce the risk of battery fire, but continued fires meant that it announced a global battery recall for all Kona EVs back in February.
With customers feeling left in the dark, and two new Kona EV fires this week, we’ve come to the stark realization that, right now, there’s only one way forward on this issue.
