The province has introduced $19 million towards the additional growth of battery electrical car (BEV) know-how in Ontario.
Coming by way of the Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network (OVIN), the funds will go towards seven Regional Know-how and Growth Websites (RTDS), that are unfold out throughout the province.
In Northern Ontario, the RTDS is a coalition of members together with NORCAT, which has areas in Sudbury and Thunder Bay; the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre; the Timmins Economic Development Corporation; the City of Temiskaming Shores; and Innovation Initiatives Ontario North in North Bay.

Announced in April, the Northern Ontario website will focus on developing the supply chain from crucial minerals to refining to the design of battery cells, powertrain, manufacturing and extra.
Northern Ontario was chosen because the seventh website within the community for its experience in mining, together with its expert workforce.
