Tesla Japan has announced a special new year’s gift for customers of its inventory vehicles. The announcement was posted on Tesla Japan’s official account on social media platform X.
As per the electric vehicle maker, customers who purchase a brand new Tesla Model Y inventory vehicle would receive five years’ worth of free Supercharging.
Tesla Japan’s terms:
- As per Tesla Japan’s official website, customers must place an order for their inventory Model Y after January 1, 2025.
- The inventory Model Y purchases must also be delivered by the end of the first quarter of 2025.
- Tesla Japan explained its new year’s promotion in the following section:
- Free Supercharging for 5 years Applies to new Model Y vehicles in stock.
- “Customers who purchase a new Model Y in stock can use Superchargers free of charge for five years after delivery. To receive the benefit, new orders placed after January 1, 2025 must be delivered by March 31, 2025. Customers who are waiting for an order for a vehicle that was placed by December 31, 2024 and is not yet delivered will not be eligible for this campaign if they place a new order after January 1, 2025.
- “This benefit is linked to your Tesla account and cannot be transferred to other customers or vehicles. Used vehicles and vehicles used for business purposes (taxi, ride sharing, delivery services, etc.) are not eligible for this campaign. Idle fees (excess charging time fees) incurred when a vehicle is left unattended after charging or during busy periods are not included in this benefit. This program may be changed or terminated without notice.”

Tesla in Japan:
- While Tesla is yet to see widespread adoption in Japan, the electric vehicle maker has been steadily expanding its presence in the country.
- In late November, Tesla announced that it was bringing its Optimus humanoid robot to select Tesla Japan locations.
- The Tesla Cybertruck also visited the country back in September.
- In October, Tesla Japan celebrated the installation of its 600th Supercharger in the country. The company’s 60,000th Supercharger worldwide was also installed in Japan.
