Tesla has released some pertinent information regarding its recall of 362,758 vehicles equipped with FSD Beta. The recall was announced earlier this month and posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) ‘s official website.
As could be seen in a dedicated webpage for the FSD Beta recall, the company is adopting a very cautious stance on the matter. So careful is Tesla that the company is currently pausing the rollout of FSD Beta to new drivers until a software remedy to the recall has been released.
“Until the software version containing the fix is available, we have paused the rollout of FSD Beta to all who have opted-in but have not yet received a software version containing FSD Beta,” Tesla noted.
Similar to the majority of Tesla’s previous “recalls,” the FSD Beta fault is expected to be addressed through a free over-the-air software update, which is expected to be released as soon as it’s available. Tesla also highlighted that the FSD Beta recall only affects vehicles in the United States and Canada.

In certain rare circumstances and within the FSD Beta operating limitations, when the feature is engaged, it could potentially infringe upon local traffic laws or customs while executing these driving maneuvers in specific conditions before the driver may intervene:
- Traveling or turning through certain intersections during a stale yellow traffic light
- The perceived duration of the vehicle’s static position at certain intersections with a stop sign, particularly when the intersection is clear of any other road users
- Adjusting vehicle speed while traveling through certain variable speed zones, based on detected speed limit signage and/or the vehicle’s speed offset setting that is adjusted by the driver
- Negotiating a lane change out of certain turn-only lanes to continue traveling straight
Tesla notes that FSD Beta is designed always to remind drivers to pay close attention to the road. It is then pertinent for users of the advanced driver-assist system to be aware that they are fully responsible while the system is operating. Considering the recall, drivers who are not paying attention while operating FSD Beta may end up violating traffic rules and increasing their chances of collisions.
The electric vehicle maker highlighted that ultimately, FSD Beta users are not required to take any immediate actions as the recall is addressed. No service appointments are needed as well. Tesla also assured FSD Beta owners that the software remedy for the recall would not remove the advanced driver-assist system from their vehicles.
