As it stands, Tata Motors is currently the largest electric vehicle manufacturer in the nation and for the foreseeable future, no other automotive brand in the country will be dethroning it. However, to further strengthen its position in the electric vehicle segment the company is believed to be working on even more electric cars to launch in the forthcoming year. For 2023, Tata Motors is looking to launch three new electric vehicles in the lineup, of these three, the company has already introduced one – the Tiago EV. Now you may be wondering what are the other two EVs that are coming next year. Well, the answer is Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the electrified iterations of its mid-size SUV Harrier and micro SUV Punch as well.
Tiago EV
To no one’s surprise just a few months Tata Motors launched the country’s most affordable electric car – the Tiago EV. The company at the time of the launch anticipated that the model will garner a good amount of interest, although to its surprise, it received an overwhelming response. Tata Motors received a staggering 10000 bookings in just the first day of the commencement of reservations and to express the appreciation received from the buyers it expanded its special introductory pricing, beginning at Rs 8.49 Lakh to an additional 10,000 reservations. The company recently announced that it also crossed the 20000 bookings mark as well and added that the deliveries will commence from 2023.

According to Tata Motors, the waiting period for the Tiago EV is four months. The Tata Tiago EV comes in the XE, XT, XZ+, and XZ+ Tech Lux trims, and there are two battery pack options available: 19.2kWh and 24kWh. There are several battery packs available, each with a unique range. A 24 kWh battery pack delivers a 315 km range, according to MIDC. It should be comparable to a 260 km useful range. Another option is a 19.2 kWh battery pack that is smaller. It has a 250 km range that has been approved by MIDC, which is equivalent to around 200 km.
Punch EV
Tata’s entry-level micro SUV, the Punch, is one of the most successful models in the Tata lineup and to further bank on its moniker the brand is most likely to launch the EV version of the model next year in 2023. Once launched the model will sit atop the Tata Tiago EV and provide a range comparable to that of the other Tata vehicles. Tata previously stated that they are looking into other engine options for the Punch, and an EV is most likely one among them.
The electric blue accents would set it out from the standard Punch SUV, which is most likely how it will appear. It is believed that the Punch EV once launched could be priced in the range of Rs 10 to 14 lakh.
Harrier EV
Earlier this year, Team-BHP reported that Tata Motors was developing an all-electric Harrier. According to the report, the car was in an advanced state of development and could be released in India in the middle of 2023. There haven’t been any reports of the Harrier Electric test mules yet, although given that the Auto Expo is set to take place in early 2023, the electric Harrier could very well be displayed there.
In terms of the specifications of the forthcoming EV Harrier we do not have a whole lot of information to go about. But given the size of Harrier, it is anticipated that the car will come equipped with the biggest battery pack of all the electric cars in the Tata Motors EV lineup. It will also be the most expensive model in the range and reports suggest that it could cost anywhere in the range of Rs. 20-25 lakh.
