Well, the cat is finally out of the bag. These are the first photos of the refreshed 2025 Tesla Model Y “Juniper” without any camouflage. The images were posted on Instagram by CocheSpias, an account notorious for publishing spy photos of upcoming cars.
X user @DominicBRNKM also published a set of photos, including an additional angle from the left side of the EV.
The biggest visual updates to the world’s best-selling electric vehicle are at the front and the rear, where the old headlights and tail lights have been replaced by full-width LED light bars. Up front, the 2025 Model Y seems to retain the bumper-mounted fog lights, but the headlights are now much sleeker.
At the back, the shape of the taillights seems to be very similar to that of the facelifted Model 3, but an additional light bar seems to have been installed on the hatch, making for a Cybertruck-like look.
The redesign of the front fascia is nothing like any Tesla model on sale today, and it’s surprisingly similar to China’s Xpeng P7+ sedan. Last year, the only major market where Tesla saw sales numbers go up instead of down was China, so the American EV maker may be adapting its design to better suit Chinese customers’ needs. That being said, the Model Y is a global model, so it also needs to be perceived as attractive by buyers in the United States, Europe and everywhere else.
We still don’t know what improvements Tesla will implement under the skin of the refreshed Model Y. If I were to guess, I’d say the car will have a better suspension system, a quieter cabin and a better sound system. These are all updates that were applied to the Model 3 facelift, and seeing how the two models share the same platform, it would be easy for Tesla to go down the same route a second time.
However, you should take this with a grain of salt, as nothing is official yet. The updated 2025 Tesla Model Y is expected to go on sale this year, five years after the original model was introduced.
