Presenting at the 2020 Charged EV Virtual Summit, Turntide Technologies’ CTO, Richard Hellinga, defines how the switched reluctance motor (SRM) is destined to take over the electric vehicle market for these four reasons:
(1) SRM technology is improving more rapidly than any other.
(2) Labs show that SRMs can exceed interior permanent magnet (IPM) motors in vehicle applications.
(3) IPMs require rare earth minerals, which are limited in supply and environmentally devastating to produce.
(4) SRM advantages are too compelling to ignore.
