Düsseldorf-based know-how group Rheinmetall introduced a novel curb charging system at a latest e-mobility convention in Germany.

The brand new charger integrates charging electronics into the curb itself, so it blends into the cityscape virtually invisibly. EVs might be charged immediately on the curb without having to stretch a protracted cable throughout the sidewalk.

The modular curb charger is able to charging at energy ranges as much as 22 kW AC. It may be built-in into present backend techniques and charging system infrastructures through the open cost level protocol (OCPP).

Rheinmetall  designed the system with ease of retrofitting and upkeep in thoughts. So-called “dummy curbs” are put in on the desired areas, and might be retrofitted as quickly because the variety of EVs in a neighborhood ensures ample demand. In keeping with the corporate, retrofitting takes solely minutes, and the digital unit might be simply eliminated for upkeep.

The techniques are present process complete long-term testing in Germany.
