Editorial Spotlight: Explore the emerging world of electric vertical flight and the future of urban air mobility.

Joby is pushing vertical mobility beyond the conventional air-taxi mission. Its hydrogen-electric demonstrator has shown the potential for dramatically longer-range electric flight, while a separate turbine-electric autonomous VTOL program is extending the concept toward defense and other demanding missions.

The next frontier may be cargo. EVACT — Electric Vertical Autonomous Cargo Transport could create an entirely new logistics category as autonomous vertical aircraft gain range, payload and operational flexibility.

Beyond cargo, rapid-response applications could be equally important: EV911 Emergency Rapid Dispatch for medical response, fire, earthquakes and disaster relief.

Passenger mobility may be only the beginning. Longer-range Flying Hybrids could ultimately connect people, cargo and emergency services in ways today’s ground transportation cannot.
Footnote: Archer a close competitor isnot too far behind, pivoting away from purely UAM short city shuttle mainly in Florida while Eve and Vertical aero is is lagging behind for the moment.

Watch this space: A new era in Air transportation is ushered live and few are aware of it. The place to keep an eye on for rapid development is the UAE already contacting for Vertiports deployment and Saudi Arabia aiming at 2028-2030 or sooner for as part of the Project 2030.

If I had to bet I’d swipe predict EVArabia and Saudi EV + Lucid as the winners in this race…That is if Joby delivers for them on schedule.
