Infrastructure for electric vehicles continues to grow in the region as four new charging stations were unveiled in Amherstburg Tuesday.
The new charging facilities have been installed at the Libro Centre, Toddy Jones Park, and in the municipal parking lot on Ramsay Street.
The Town of Amherstburg contributed $120,000 for the installation. Another $40,000 came from Essex Powerlines’ CHARGE UP Windsor Essex Program.
The program was funded by a $2 million federal grant to install 300 charging stations throughout Windsor and Essex County.
“Windsor and Essex really is at the center of this revolution that is taking place, this transition to electric vehicles. Making sure we have the infrastructure in place here is a critical piece of that puzzle,” said Windsor-Tecumseh MP Irek Kusmierczyk.
The chargers will be visible to EV users via the ChargePoint App, an application that shows users where to charge their vehicles while out in the community.
