SARATOGA SPRINGS — It’s the week before Christmas and electric vehicle drivers will get free coffee when they charge their cars at selected Stewart’s convenience stores.
The store chain and New York Power Authority have teamed up for a week-long promotion which starts on Dec. 19 and runs through Dec. 25.
The free coffee will be for those using one of the power authority’s EVolve NY fast charging sites at five Stewart’s locations.
The state offers a variety of incentives and promotional campaigns to encourage more New Yorkers to drive zero-emissions vehicles to help decarbonize the economy.
Now free coffee is in the mix, at least for the coming week.
EV drivers need to mention the code “Drive Electric” to a cashier at the site where they charge up to receive a free Stewart’s 12-ounce coffee during the promotion.
They also can pick up a “Drive Electric” bumper sticker designed by a student at Amsterdam High School in a competition organized by NYPA’s Environmental Justice department to promote EV driving in New York.
Each Stewart’s location has four fast charging stations that can be used by any make or model of electric vehicle and can fully charge an EV in as little as 20 minutes. NYPA installed the hubs, and now owns and operates them in coordination with Stewart’s acting as site host.
The following Stewart’s are offering the free coffee:
- Latham Stewart’s Shops, 204 Wade Road Extension, Latham
- Clifton Park Stewart’s Shops at 1740 Route 9, Clifton Park
- Schodack Stewart’s Shops at 1811 Columbia Turnpike, Castleton-On-Hudson
- Moreau Stewart’s Shops at 1311 Saratoga Road, Gansevoort
- Keene Stewart’s Shops at 10857 Route 9N, Keene
NYPA is paying Stewart’s for the coffee distributed as part of this EV fast charging public awareness promotion.
The chargers are part of NYPA’s statewide EVolve NY network of fast, affordable and reliable public charging stations. More than 100 have been installed in key locations along primary travel corridors and in urban areas to make it easier for New Yorkers to drive EVs.
