Magnus was driving his five month old Tesla Model 3 early one morning on the German Autobahn when Ice fell off the trailer in front of him and hit his Tesla. At first, he thought it had only been one chunk of ice because there wasn’t any visible damage to the windshield or frunk, so he just kept driving.
At the next supercharger, Magnus looked closer and was shocked by the amount of damage the ice had done to his Tesla. The license plate of the trailer wasn’t really visible in the Tesla cam footage, so Magnus called the company who owned the trailer. He sent them the video along with some pictures of the damage.
The company told him the driver wasn’t one of their employees and sent him the contact details for a Croatian trucking company. Fortunately, the Croatian company replied quickly after he contacted them and sent him all the details and information he needed for an insurance claim. The damage will be repaired in about four weeks and the truck driver’s insurance provider will cover it all.
The repair estimate came to 8,000 euros or about 8,800 US dollars.
