  • Lucid is targeting Tesla owners with a discount for the Air EV.
  • Owners and lessees don’t have to trade in their cars, just provide proof of ownership.
  • When buying a Lucid Air from inventory, the total discount is $4,000.

Lucid Motors, the maker of the Air luxury electric sedan and Gravity SUV, is going after Tesla owners who want to jump ship. Until the end of March, wannabe customers can get up to $4,000 off an inventory 2025 Lucid Air if they trade in a Tesla EV.

The discount is split in two: $2,000 is slashed off the price of a new Air sedan if you go for a car that’s in stock and on-site, while the other $2,000 is subtracted from the car’s selling price if you’re thinking of trading in a car that you already own or lease.

According to Lucid’s terms, you don’t even have to trade in your old car–you just have to provide proof of ownership, which makes it a little more interesting. What’s more, the offer is valid if you currently own or lease a gas-powered or hybrid model from a very long list of so-called legacy automakers.

However, when it comes to providing proof of ownership of an EV, Tesla is the only automaker targeted by this campaign. It’s a similar move to what Polestar did last month with great success–offering a $5,000 discount for Tesla drivers looking to lease a new Polestar 3.

Currently, Lucid’s website lists multiple Air EVs eligible for the discounts, starting from a $69,900 Air Pure and going over $120,000 for an Air Grand Touring. The top-spec Sapphire trim is not eligible for the discounts, but there’s still plenty to choose from. The base Air Pure is good for 420 miles on a full charge and has a single electric motor that puts out 430 horsepower, while the Air Grand Touring adds a second motor for dual-motor all-wheel drive with 819 hp and ups the maximum range to 512 miles.

We’ll see how successful Lucid’s conquest offer turns out to be, seeing how the Air EV isn’t exactly affordable to begin with. In Polestar’s case, it piled another $15,000 of incentives to lessees for a total discount of $20,000, and it worked. Jordan Hofmann, the automaker’s head of US sales, said Polestar saw some of its highest order days for the Polestar 3 because of the Tesla Conquest Offer.
