Bible Class on the History of The Lord’s Prayer – Part 3
In this third part of our study we look at the changes to the Lord’s Prayer in the English liturgy of the church from the 1970’s to the present. We will focus primarily on Lutheran Liturgy and Hymnals, including the ILCW hymnal, LCMS and WELS hymnals, as well as our own Worship Supplement. We will also look more broadly at changes in the 2017 Book of Common Prayer and other Christian traditions. We will see that all these traditions have made an effort to update the language of the Lord’s Prayer in the liturgies of their congregations to match the updates in the language of the rest of their liturgy.
